Schalke want Tottenham's Emmanuel Adebayor despite wage concerns
SCHALKE want to bring Emmanuel Adebayor to Germany from Tottenham but have concerns about their ability to meet the player's wage demands.
Reports in Germany suggest that Schalke have identified Adebayor as the man to replace Celtic bound Teemu Pukki.
According to Bild, Schalke manager Horst Heldt's wish to bring in another striker has lead him to the Togo international, but doubts remain about whether the German club can afford Adebayor's salary - reported to be £7m.
However, the paper suggests Schalke hope that a loan deal can be agreed with Spurs retaining responsibility for part of Adebayor's wages after a similar deal was struck with Barcelona for Ibrahim Allefay last season.
Adebayor has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs this summer following the arrival of Roberto Soldado from Valencia and the possibility of further signings in the wake of Gareth Bale's impending move to Real Madrid.
The 29-year-old striker was linked with a move to Turkey earlier with Besiktas reportedly offering £5m for the player, but the move failed to materialise.
