Champions League fixtures revealed as Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea get favourable draw
MANCHESTER UNITED, Chelsea and Manchester City were left the far happier insofar as the British contingent goes after the Champions League group stage draw was held in Monaco today.
David Moyes' side have been paired in Group A along with Shakhtar Donetsk, Bayer Leverkusen and Real Sociedad.
Jose Mourinho has also been left with what appears to be a rather straightforward group as they have been paired with Real Madrid, Juventus and Galatasaray in B.
Manchester City managed to avoid a similar fate to last season when they were drawn with Borussia Dortmund, Ajax and Real Madrid, as their only real obstacle to progression to the knockout stages is defending champions Bayern Munich.
Arsenal meanwhile have a tough ask as they have been paired with Marseille, last season's finalist Borussia Dortmund and Napoli.
But Celtic, who came from behind last night to overcome Shakhtar Kagandy have been put into the dreaded Group H, which contains Barcelona, AC Milan and Ajax.
The draw provided some funny moments with Celtic icon Billy Neil having some problems trying to open the balls as he got a hand from UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino.
Matchday 1 is on 17th and 18th September with the full fixture list available here.
