Man City line up Adil Rami as Martin Demichelis alternative
MANCHESTER CITY boss Manuel Pellegrini is ready to launch a bid for Valencia's Adil Rami, as he seeks to shore up his porous defence.
City are in the market for another centre-half following injuries to Vincent Kompany, Micah Richards and Matija Nastasic.
The Citizens slumped to a surprise 3-2 defeat away at Cardiff on Sunday where their defensive shortcomings were exposed.
City are also chasing £2m rated Atletico Madrid defender Martin Demichelis, whose departure could hinge on whether they land Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld.
Ajax rejected Atletico's bid for Alderweireld over the weekend, with the club's sporting director Marc Overmars deeming the La Liga's outfit's bid 'unsuitable for a Belgian international'.
Manchester Evening News claims Pellegrini will push for a move for the 27-year-old if they can't reach a compromise for Demichelis who is their preferred option.
They also claim that the wantaway Valencia defender could be available for around £7m.
The paper later goes on to report that City will turn down any offers for Micah Richards, with the 25-year-old a mooted target for Arsenal.
