Chelsea target Samuel Eto'o says goodbye to Anzhi team-mates
CHELSEA appear poised to nab Samuel Eto'o after the striker waved goodbye to his Anzhi team-mates - according to reports in Russia.
Eto'o has been lined up as a contingency plan for Blues boss Jose Mourinho, who has admitted recently that he has a 'Plan A, B and C' as far as his striking transfer targets go.
However, with news surfacing that Wayne Rooney's chances of joining Chelsea remote after signalling he won't be handing in a transfer request, Eto'o is firmly in the picture for the Portuguese tactician.
Eto'o's agent was in the stands last night as Manchester United were held to a goalless draw at home to Chelsea.
The Cameroonian has been offered handsome personal terms of £4m a season by Chelsea which trumps old club Inter Milan, who have offered him a salary of only £3m over two seasons.
According to Russian paper Izvestia, Eto'o bade farewell to his team-mates and club staff before wishing them good luck.
Eto'o's agent is due in London today for talks with Chelsea, while Inter Milan are waiting for an answer and expect to hear by tomorrow whether he intends to come back to the San Siro.
Eto'o had an excellent record at Anzhi, hitting 36 goals in 73 games in all competitions for the Russian giants.
He joined the club in a £25m deal in 2011 and is currently the highest paid player in world football.
