Shinji Kagawa challenged to be better than Eden Hazard
SIR ALEX FERGUSON believes Shinji Kagawa can become a better player than Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.
Bryan Robson said Ferguson was considering a move for Hazard, then at Lille, but opted for Kagawa, who cost half of Hazard’s £34million fee when signed by Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund.
Hazard was an immediate success for Chelsea while Japan’s Kagawa, hampered by injuries, struggled to find his best form last season. But United legend Robson reckons Kagawa will prove Ferguson right.
“Hazard was a player Sir Alex and his staff were looking at last year, but they thought Kagawa was better than him and he could prove that this season,” said Robson.
But Robson says Hazard could be a major threat to United tonight – as Chelsea will be for the title. “Hazard has great ability. He and [Juan] Mata have this knack of being able to drift in from the wing and into your box, which makes them difficult to pick up.
“Chelsea will be a threat to us because of Jose Mourinho’s record in the English game. I worry about them more than City.”
