Qatari side Al-Gharafa set to trump Chelsea's Samuel Eto'o £4m salary offer
CHELSEA have tried to entice Samuel Eto'o by making him a £4m salary offer but could still be trumped by Qatari club Al-Gharafa.
According to Sky Sport Italia the Blues have stepped up their efforts to sign the Anzhi player - thought to be available for around £6m - by preparing to offer him a £4m salary next season.
Eto'o has piqued the interest of Chelsea's Premier League rivals Manchester United and has been courted by his former club Inter Milan but it now looks like the hottest competition could come from Qatari side Al-Gharafa.
Inter Milan are tracking Eto'o and are reportedly ready to offer only £3m over two seasons but Al-Gharafa could be set to trump them all.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Qatari club who recently signed Lisandro Lopez from Lyon for £5m, have contacted Anzhi about a deal for Eto'o and are ready to offer the 32-year-old nearly £7m a season over 3 seasons.
And the paper suggest that the combination of greater wages and the security of a three-year deal could be enough to get the Cameroonian to turn his back on European football.
But with Eto'o looking increasingly likely to head elsewhere, Chelsea fans can rest assured that the Portuguese boss still has a 'Plan B and even a 'Plan C' as far as his striking transfer targets go.
