Real in raid for Luis Suarez as Arsenal eye Karim Benzema swoop
LIVERPOOL are braced for a late bid from Real Madrid for Luis Suarez but insist the striker will not leave in this transfer window.
Madrid are set to complete a deal for Tottenham’s Gareth Bale but, with Arsenal eyeing up Karim Benzema after themselves failing to land Suarez, the Spaniards would need to increase their striking options.
Suarez began the summer agitating to quit Anfield by admitting he favoured a move to Real, and Liverpool are primed to fend off any advances.
But Real’s interest has the potential to cause a mess, with Suarez likely to agitate all over again just a week after brokering an uneasy truce.
Brendan Rodgers maintains it is too late in the transfer window for Liverpool to sell. He said: “It’s very difficult.
"There might have been a point a few months ago where there was time to do it, but with 11 days to go it would be difficult to lose Luis and then replace him."
