West Brom clinch Scott Sinclair loan deal as Nicolas Anelka is given compassionate leave
WEST BROM have sealed a season-long loan deal for Scott Sinclair, the club have confirmed.
The nature of the deal is that the club could turn it into a permanent move should he prove a success.
Speaking about the move, manager Steve Clarke said: "We’re delighted Scott Sinclair feels this is the right club for him at this stage of his career.
Sky Sports claims that the recently signed player told staff of his wish to quit before leaving the training ground.
The 34-year-old, who returned to the Premier League after an ill-fated stint in China with Shanghai Shenhua cleared out his locker.
Only last week Steve Clarke defended the Frenchman, claiming that he would prove to be a huge success this season.
Anelka had also said that he intended to finish his career at the Baggies.
He said: "I think I'll finish in England.
"I hope that it will be with this club."
It is also thought that Anelka had been mulling over the decision for the past 48 hours, but only made up his mind this morning.
Anelka has been excused from Saturday's game against Everton and has been granted compassionate leave.
Following the news, West Brom have been given odds of 4/1 to sign Adam Le Fondre, 6/1 to sign Demba Ba and 14/1 to sign Romelu Lukaku by Sky Bet before deadline day on September 2.
