PICTURES: Olivier Giroud proves Laurent Koscielny is on mend after kick to head
ARSENAL defender Laurent Koscielny is on the mend after being forced off during last night's win over Fenerbahce after being brutally kicked in the head.
Striker Olivier Giroud posted a picture of himself with Koscielny on the flight back from Turkey last night, with the centre-back sporting a deep cut on his eye.
Giroud suggested that his compatriot could be back in time for Saturday's visit to Fulham though, despite initial fears that Koscielny could have broken a bone.
"Some news from Lolo...He's ok no worries HE WILL BE BAAACK! #french warrior #kung-fu #stitches," posted Giroud on Instagram.
Arsenal's 3-0 win saw Koscielny substituted in the first half after a high boot from Fenerbahce forward Pierre Webo, leaving the 27-year-old needing hospital treatment.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was less than impressed by the challenge, saying: "Laurent Koscielny has opened very deeply the skull and we had to take him to hospital.
"I was not happy with the kick because I feel always that you can ease a bit off. Only the player in the end will know what he did."
Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was also on the receiving end of a late challenge from Moussa Sow and had a visible cut on his neck after the collision.
