Jose Mourinho claims Chelsea will delay £28m Wayne Rooney bid
CHELSEA manager Jose Mourinho claims he has ruled out making a third offer for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney until after next Monday's Premier League clash between the two sides.
Top of the table Chelsea travel to Old Trafford to face United on Monday night, but Mourinho has indicated the Blues will not risk upsetting their title rivals by unsettling Rooney with a fresh approach.
"I don't want Chelsea to do it before we go there and everybody at the club agrees with me," he said.
"There is time to do things from an ethical point of view. We are going to be quiet and think about the game."
Express Sport understands Chelsea's third bid for Rooney will be in the region of £28million, after their first two efforts for the England star were rejected.
Rooney was spotted out with United boss David Moyes and the rest of the Red Devils squad for a team bonding meal in Manchester on Tuesday night, with the Premier League champions insistent that he will not be sold this summer.
Mourinho has other options in mind if he is not able to land the 27-year-old though, with £5m Anzhi Makhachkala striker Samuel Eto'o on his radar.
"We have plans B and C," added Mourinho.
"Don't ask me names because it's difficult to speak about players from other clubs."
