CONFIRMED: Southampton beat Spurs and Fulham to sign Italy striker Pablo Osvaldo
SOUTHAMPTON have broken their transfer record again this summer after announcing the signing of Roma striker Pablo Osvaldo in a deal worth almost £15million.
Osvaldo has signed a four-year deal at St Mary's, in doing so turning down interest from Tottenham and Fulham.
The Saints have paid an initial £12.9m for the Italian marksman, which could rise to £14.6m with add-ons.
Osvaldo's signing breaks Southampton's transfer record for the second time this summer, after the £12.5m acquisition of Victor Wanyama from Celtic.
"Southampton Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Italy striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo," said a statement on the Saints' official website.
"Osvaldo today agreed terms on a four-year contract with Saints and moves from Serie A side A.S. Roma.
"The 27-year-old arrives with an impressive goalscoring record, with 79 goals in the 232 senior appearances he has made during his spells in Argentina, Italy and Spain."
