Ex-Newcastle striker Nile Ranger dodges community service to look for a new club
FORMER Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger won’t now have to complete his 120 hours of community service – because he is too busy searching for a new club.
Ranger, 22, received the punishment after admitting common assault in April but only managed 14 hours of the certified order.
To the astonishment of many, he has been allowed to pay a £5,000 fine instead.
Highbury Magistrates Court heard that Ranger, who earned £7,000 a week at Newcastle until having his contract terminated, wasn’t available for any community tasks because he was tied up in meetings trying to sign for another football club.
