Liverpool agree loan deal for Aly Cissokho
BRENDAN RODGERS appears to have secured cover at left-back for Liverpool this season after agreeing a temporary deal for Valencia left-back Aly Cissokho.
Liverpool struck personal terms with Cissokho last week, but the move was held up by Valencia's desire to sell the player and not sanction a loan.
However, the Reds have brokered a deal in principle to sign the 25-year-old on loan with a view to a permanent deal.
Rodgers had been searching for competition at left-back to rival expected first-choice Jose Enrique this summer, with a number of players linked with the Merseyside outfit.
Granada's Guilherme Siqueira proved too expensive while Benfica's Lorenzo Melgarejo and Bayern Munich's Diego Contento were also considered.
Cissokho is expected to travel to Liverpool in the next week to undergo a medical, while the Frenchman could extend his stay at Anfield beyond this season should his season-long loan prove successful.
An agreement is in place for the club to sign Cissokho permanently should his season-long stay be successful.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are in talks with Anzhi Makhachkala over the signing of forward Willian, who has revealed his desire to join Rodgers' side.
