Southampton have 'bid accepted' for Roma's Pablo Osvaldo
SOUTHAMPTON appear to be inching closer to Roma's Pablo Osvaldo after having a £15m bid accepted for him according to reports in Italy.
Benfica have been looking to gazump Southampton's interest and were thought to have landed in Rome yesterday to negotiate a deal.
Southampton along with Fulham have been credited with a strong interest in the player who is looking to get into the Italy squad for next summer's World Cup in Brazil.
Italian paper Corriere dello Sport has it that Southampton are willing to offer him a four-year deal with a salary of £2.1m a season to entice him to the Premier League.
Though there is a belief that Osvaldo would like to move to London, the publication goes on to claim his camp are trying to convince him of the advantages of a move to the South coast.
Osvaldo was recalled to the italy squad for their friendly against Argentina.
Meanwhile, Spurs are trying to thrash out a deal for Osvaldo's team-mate Erik Lamela.
