Peter Schmeichel believes David Moyes can handle pressure of managing Man Utd
MANCHESTER UNITED legend Peter Schmeichel believes David Moyes will be able to handle the pressure of managing the Premier League champions.
The Red Devils won the first trophy of the Moyes era when they beat Wigan 2-0 in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday.
Moyes has been under pressure to deliver a key-note signing having missed out on the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Thiago Alcantara.
However, Schmeichel who cemented legendary status during his trophy-laden years at Old Trafford believes United are well equipped to win the title this season.
"David Moyes was always going to have a tough time having taken over the reins from Sir Alex Ferguson," Schmeichel told Sky Sports.
"However, he has inherited a squad that won the Championship last season and they have enough experience to help him.
"He will get a lot of media attention, but he has a squad with enough strength and depth to win the title."
Schmeichel didn't discount Manchester City's chances but said they have a lot to do to bridge the gap from last season.
He added: "I think it will be an open Premier League title race but I make Manchester United favourites."
