Suarez U-turn: Luis set to snub Arsenal for Liverpool stay because of fans' support
LUIS SUAREZ appears to have performed a remarkable U-turn just a week after publicly declaring he wanted to quit Liverpool by suggesting he will now stay at Anfield.
The controversial striker is on international duty with Uruguay in Japan and is quoted in El Observador newspaper as saying the backing of Liverpool fans means he will remain at Anfield for the time being.
"For now, due to all of the people's affection (for me), I will be staying," said Suarez.
It comes after Liverpool owner John W Henry publicly stated Suarez would not be sold to any club at any price.
Arsenal have had bids of £35million and £40,000,001 rejected by Liverpool and Suarez's attempts to agitate for a move to The Emirates have failed to weaken the resolve of the Anfield club.
He gave an interview last week claiming Liverpool had broken a promise to him that he could leave if they did not qualify for the Champions League.
The forward is suspended for the first six games of this season as punishment for biting Branislav Ivanovic continues.
Suarez spent last week training on his own and Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said he must apologise for his actions before rejoining the first team group.
