Man United told Sevilla star Geoffrey Kondogbia will cost £17m
MANCHESTER UNITED have been told they will have to shell out £17million if they want Sevilla midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia.
The versatile youngster, 20, was called into the France squad for the first time for tonight’s friendly against Belgium.
And United have been tracking Kondogbia throughout the summer, although David Moyes faces competition from Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid.
Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido has claimed that the former Lens player "is off the market" this summer, but the La Liga outfit are powerless to prevent suitors activating his £17m release clause.
Del Nido insists Kondogbia will not be allowed to join a Spanish rival - potentially ruling out a move to Real Madrid - after reaching an agreement with the company that own's half of the Frenchman's rights.
Moyes remains in the market for a midfielder after missing out on Thiago Alcantara and Kevin Strootman already this summer, while his pursuit of Cesc Fabregas appears to have failed.
Fabregas recently poured cold water on United's interest, prompting speculation that a move for Everton's Marouane Fellaini could be revived.
But Kondogbia represents a more long-term option, and can also play at centre-back and left-back as well as central midfield.
