Steven Gerrard's hoping to use his influence to convince Luis Suarez to stay at Anfield
ENGLAND captain Steven Gerrard has re-iterated his desire to see Luis Suarez stay with Liverpool next season.
Suarez's future has remained the subject of frenzied speculation throughout the summer, with Arsenal already lodging two bids which were rejected for him.
Gerrard fielded questions about England's friendly against Scotland tomorrow evening at a press conference and gave an honest overview of the Suarez saga.
"Yeah of course I want him to stay and he is one of the best players in the world.
"If I can use my influence to convince him to stay, then I will do that."
Gerrard refused to be drawn into comment on Wayne Rooney's future, but believes he has been his old self in training.
He added: "He's the same old Wayne Rooney, he's looked good, he's been scoring goals, and he's ready to play.
"He's prepared really well, I'm sure he is itching to start."
