Tottenham set to battle Fiorentina and Napoli for Arsenal target Adil Rami
TOTTENHAM have entered the race to sign Valencia's wantaway French defender Adil Rami.
Reports in Spain suggest that Spurs are set to battle it out with Fiorentina and Napoli for the player.
Over the weekend La Nazione revealed that the two Serie A clubs were leading the race to sign the 27-year-old after Arsenal and Manchester City's interest in the player cooled.
But now Tottenham are set to turn to Rami after letting Steven Caulker leave for Cardiff and seeing a deal for Romanian international Vlad Chiriches fall through at the last minute.
The former Lille player has been unsettled in Spain for some time and has even been given time off recently to deal with 'personal issues'.
But Valencia are not keen to see Rami leave on the cheap and were initially demanding a fee of £21.5m for the French international.
However, it has since been revealed that the player has a £10m buy-out clause in his contract, and, given the difficulties Rami has faced, Valencia would be willing to listen to bids of slightly less than that with £9.5m the latest fee mooted.
Fiorentina sporting director Eduardo Macia has reportedly been working hard to convince Rami of the benefits of a move to Florence, but Tottenham have been given hope with the player thought to prefer a move to England and open to the idea of joining Spurs.
