Mario Balotelli pulls out of Italy's friendly clash with Argentina
MARIO BALOTELLI has pulled out of the Italy squad for the friendly against Argentina tomorrow after picking up a knee injury in training.
The AC Milan striker left the Confederations Cup early in Brazil after sustaining a leg injury, and it appears the injury has flared up.
A statement published on FIGC.com confirmed the news, which read: "No Italy-Argentina for Mario Balotelli. The Azzurro striker, who suffered a heavy knock to his knee in training yesterday, has not recovered and will return home.
"Balotelli left the Roman retreat after we had an audience with Pope Francis in the Vatican."
Roma forward Pablo Osvaldo will now stand in for the injured Balotelli.
Argentina have been dealt an injury blow as Lionel Messi will not take part in the game.
