David Luiz 'tells Chelsea he wants to join Barcelona'
BRAZIL defender David Luiz has reportedly stunned Chelsea by informing them of his desire to join Barcelona this summer.
Reports in Spain suggest that Luiz has made up his mind to leave Stamford Bridge for the Nou Camp.
While Blues manager Jose Mourinho remains adamant that the 26-year-old will not be sold, Barca are targeting a new centre-back and the Brazilian is top of their shortlist.
According to Spanish sports paper Mundo Deportivo, Luiz has told Chelsea he wants to join the Spanish giants but Barca must increase their offer considerably to land the Brazilian.
Express Sport understands that Chelsea rejected an initial £35million offer for Luiz, but an agreement could be reached if the La Liga champions up their offer to around £43m (€50m).
Barca coach Gerardo Martino is said to be happy with the resources at his disposal and is not forcing such an expensive acquisition.
Liverpool's Daniel Agger remains an option, although Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers claims the Dane will not be sold.
