Arsenal stake interest in Bayern's Luiz Gustavo by tabling £17.2m bid
ARSENAL are thought to be in talks over a move for Bayern Munich's Luiz Gustavo after launching a £17.2m bid.
According to Sky Sports, talks are thought to be at an advanced stage for the Brazil international.
Gustavo's first-team opportunities at Bayern appear to be slim following the arrival of Thiago Alcantara.
Wolfsburg were also credited with an interest along with Napoli who are thought to be waiting in the wings.
Arsene Wenger has hinted at strengthening his squad, and told the club's in-house TV station Arsenal Player: "We are in the transfer market and we try still to strengthen our squad.
"It's important as well now to focus on the squad who are already at the club and that you focus on the competition, not only on the transfer market."
Gustavo is open to an exit from the Bundesliga champions and was quoted on ESPN, as saying: "I'm assessing the best option. It's a delicate situation. I'll go somewhere where I'll play."
