Ian Holloway slams folly of Marouane Chamakh rejection
CRYSTAL PALACE boss Ian Holloway branded Arsenal “fools” for snubbing Marouane Chamakh.
The Moroccan striker, who did not make a single Premier League appearance for the Gunners last season, could be on his way to top-flight new boys Palace on a season-long loan.
Holloway said: “Arsenal were fools not to pick him. When they did, he scored. And you can’t score goals when you’re understudy to Robin van Persie and not be picked, can you?”
There are still financial hurdles to overcome but Holloway hopes to land the 29-year-old in time for next Sunday’s opener with Tottenham.
Holloway has made six signings this summer but feels most players are not worth the sky-high demands they and their agents make.
He added: “The market is absolutely crazy. I have had to turn my phone off because it’s on meltdown. But using my experience, we will get some good signings in.”
