QPR unsuccessful in bid for Spurs' Scott Parker but retain hope over Jermain Defoe
QPR have failed in a bid to bring Scott Parker to Loftus Road from Tottenham.
Parker is surplus to requirements at Tottenham following the arrival of Paulinho, and has been also been linked with a move to former club West Ham.
But QPR are leading the chase to sign the 32-year-old with the Hammers not thought to be willing to meet Parker's wage demands.
And now Sky Sports have confirmed that Harry Redknapp's side has had a bid for Parker rejected.
The details of the bid have not been revealed but Tottenham were thought to want a fee in the region of £2m for the England international.
Redknapp has stated that he also hopes to sign Jermain Defoe from Spurs, but that a deal currently looks unlikely.
He told the Evening Standard: “I’d love to have Jermain. We made an enquiry but at the moment he’s not available. We’re nowhere near anything. There is a small chance of it happening.”
Redknapp further confirmed his interest in Colombian striker Duvan Zapata, but admitted "he may be going elsewhere".
Meanwhile, QPR remain hopeful that they may be able to convince Liverpool's Oussama Assaidi to join on loan after the player failed to make much of an impact at Anfield following his move from Heerenveen last summer.
And the club is also hoping for further departures before the transfer window closes as they try to cut their wage bill after being relegated, with Stephane Mbia, Samba Diakite and Anton Ferdinand all likely to be offloaded.
