Rickie Lambert called up alongside Wayne Rooney for England friendly with Scotland
SOUTHAMPTON striker Rickie Lambert has earned an England call-up from Roy Hodgson for next Wednesday's friendly against Scotland - where he could partnered up-front by Chelsea transfer target Wayne Rooney.
Lambert has been selected for the Three Lions for the first time, having scored 15 Premier League goals last season.
Rooney has also been picked by Hodgson for the all-British meeting at Wembley, despite not featuring for Manchester United yet in pre-season.
Rooney's team-mate Wilfried Zaha has also been recalled to the England squad after making his debut against Sweden in Stockholm last November.
Zaha impressed during United's tour of the Far East and Australia earlier this summer, and adds to Hodgson's attacking options.
The match is the first between England and Scotland since 1999.
