Wayne Rooney asked Manchester United to train with reserves
MANCHESTER UNITED striker Wayne Rooney asked to train with the reserve team today - as he pushes for a move to rivals Chelsea.
Rooney was pictured arriving at United's Carrington training ground this morning in his silver Overfinch Range Rover.
And the 27-year-old requested to take part in a session with the reserves, instead of linking up with the senior squad.
Rooney has been named in Roy Hodgson's England squad to face Scotland on Wednesday, despite having yet to feature for his club in pre-season.
Express Sport understands that Rooney is unlikely to feature in Rio Ferdinand's testimonial against Seville tomorrow, as manager David Moyes spares his a potential backlash from the fans.
The former Everton star is thought to have been keen to get a more strenuous workout than the light session planned by Moyes, perhaps as he tries to stay fit in the hope that a transfer to Chelsea goes through.
Although it may also have been a ploy by Rooney to keep in shape with England's clash with Scotland in mind.
