Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger 'on standby' for wantaway Liverpool striker Luis Suarez
ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger has professed that the club's pursuit of Luis Suarez is 'on standby' as the player mulls over taking legal action against the club.
The Gunners have already lodged two bids, one of which a pound more than £40m in an attempt to trigger the clause.
Though both bids have been flatly rejected by the Reds, Suarez has been agitating for a move away from Anfield.
The player has made clear his desire to play for a club competing in the Champions League, but has so far encountered firm resistance from his club.
Wenger, who is under pressure to deliver a key-note signing, admits the Suarez situation has reached an impasse.
"At the moment the situation is on standby," Wenger told Al Jazeera Sport.
"I heard that [Suarez is considering legal action to force a move] but this is sometimes linked with things that you don't know as a potential buyer.
"That is the story between Suarez and Liverpool and I don't know what has been said, what has been promised and what has been written and that is only Suarez and Liverpool that can decide that.
"It's nothing to do with us. We have been told that the player wants to leave Liverpool and that's why we've acted."
Suarez pulled out of Liverpool's pre-season friendly in Norway through injury.
