MANCHESTER UNITED outcast Wayne Rooney arrived at the club's training ground this morning, after being left out of the squad travelling to Sweden for a friendly with AIK.
Rooney drove into United's Carrington training ground in an Overfinch Range Rover as his team-mates prepare for their final overseas pre-season game before the Community Shield curtain-raiser on Sunday.
Express Sport understands that Rooney is facing a dressing-room revolt from senior United players over his desire to quit Old Trafford and join Chelsea.
Players such as Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs and Patrice Evra are growing increasingly frustrated with the England striker over his behaviour this summer.
And while manager David Moyes claimed that Rooney was left out of the travelling party for the friendly in Stockholm tonight due to a shoulder injury, speculation is mounting that the former Everton star is set to hand in a transfer request.
Blackpool boss Paul Ince believes Rooney may be ready to leave the Red Devils this summer, but says he will have to push the club in order to secure a move away.
"If Wayne wants to go, then it is up to him to force that issue," said Ince.
"But Wayne has not said he wants to go or wants to stay; it would be nice to know what Wayne Rooney wants."
The transfer saga surrounding Rooney is threatening to derail the harmony fostered at United following last season's Premier League title success, but Moyes is loathe to sell the striker to rivals Chelsea before bringing in a high-profile replacement.
Publicly, the Scot insists Rooney will not be sold and claimed that the injury keeping him out of his expected return date against AIK is precautionary.
"Wayne hurt his shoulder in a fall during a match on Saturday," said Moyes. "It's not too serious and I don't expect it to keep him out for too long.
"I'm disappointed he's missing the game because we were keen to get him back involved and ready to play."
