Wayne Rooney forced out of Manchester United friendly with shoulder injury
MANCHESTER UNITED striker Wayne Rooney will not travel with the rest of the squad to Sweden after sustaining a shoulder injury.
United are due to take on AIK Fotboll tomorrow after picking up the injury during a behind-closed-doors game against Real Betis.
Rooney's Old Trafford future has been the subject of unrelenting speculation, with Chelsea the frontrunners for his signature.
Express Sport Online revealed this morning that Chelsea have had a fresh £25m bid plus add-ons rebuffed by United.
David Moyes has hardened his stance on Rooney in recent weeks, insisting he is not for sale.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has also been involved in a war-of-words with United and said that it is 'Rooney or bust' as far as his transfer activity goes.
News of Rooney's injury was confirmed by United on their official twitter page: ".@WayneRooney misses out on the final #mutour match due to a shoulder injury sustained at the weekend."
This is the latest setback for Rooney who missed United's pre-season tour of the Far East due to a hamstring injury, even though David Moyes has deemed it 'not too serious'.
