Former Real president Calderon admits Cristiano Ronaldo in talks over Man United return
MANCHESTER UNITED fans will have their ears pricked by the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo is locked in talks with the club over a sensational return to Old Trafford.
Real have been pursuing Gareth Bale and it is believed that they have been going after him as an insurance policy as they fear Ronaldo will leave.
United have missed out on several transfer targets including Thiago Alcantara and the likes of Leighton Baines may be a bridge too far for David Moyes.
But Calderon has conceded that Ronaldo could be heading back to Old Trafford with talks ongoing.
"It seems that Manchester United are interested in having him back," Calderon told Sky Sports News.
"I know there have been talks where they have expressed interest."
Ronaldo hinted at a move back to the Premier League last month, admitting he misses Englsih football.
"What we know is he [Ronaldo] is not happy at all with the attitude and behaviour of the president," Calderon told talkSPORT.
"At the start of last season, he tried to talk to the president about the renewal of his contract and the talks did not go well.
“Now I understand he is asking for €20m (£17.5m) net every season. That is going to be difficult for Real Madrid to accept because it is around €40 million every year for the club to pay and that is the situation now."
Ronaldo has proved prolific for Real since joining Los Blancos for a world record £80m fee in 2009.
