England Women's: Hero Toni Duggan helps police catch burglar
ENGLAND goal heroine Toni Duggan turned from super-sub to super-sleuth to help Swedish police chase down an ice-cream shop robber.
I got up and looked out of the window – and someone was burgling the ice cream shop outside the hotel.
After her stoppage-time equaliser clinched a 1-1 draw with Russia at the Women’s Euro 2013, the Everton striker could not get to sleep back at the team hotel in Linkoping. She said: “I got up and looked out of the window – and someone was burgling the ice cream shop outside the hotel.
“I phoned reception and they got the police. It was crazy. The police were there all night with the dogs, so hopefully they have caught whoever did it.”
Duggan hopes to start tomorrow’s final group game France, which England must win to have a chance of making the last eight.
