Pep Guardiola wants Manchester United target Thiago Alcantara at Bayern Munich
BAYERN MUNICH manager Pep Guardiola has admitted he wants to trump Manchester United to the signing of Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
Guardiola's interest in the 22-year-old was reported by sources in Spain, despite United also being in negotiations for the playmaker.
And the former Barcelona boss has confirmed his intention to sign old charge - who has apparently decided he needs to quit the Nou Camp in order to increase his chances of making next summer's World Cup.
"Yes," said Guardiola, when asked if he was interested in Thiago.
"I don't know what's going to happen. We have to wait. But I know him very well. He is a super, super player.
"He can play in three, four or five positions."
And Guardiola has made it clear he is not interested in anyone else.
"It is either Thiago or nothing," he added.
