Chelsea 'agree £7.2m wages per season for Edinson Cavani' but yet to meet release clause
CHELSEA have reportedly agreed terms with Napoli striker Edinson Cavani for £7.2 million wages per season but are yet to meet the Uruguayan's release clause.
Cavani, 26, is believed to have agreed a five year deal with Chelsea while away on international duty in Brazil.
However, according to Football Italia the Blues are unwilling to activate his €63m (£53.9m) buyout clause.
Earlier this week the goal machine had announced he would be willing to leave Napoli if a 'big club' came calling.
Cavani, who joined Napoli in 2010 for €17m, said he is looking to meet with Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis as soon as possible for talks.
However, De Laurentiis replied by saying a meeting was not necessary as Cavani would only be sold if a club activated his release clause.
Cavani has been a revelation since his move to Naples, scoring 78 goals in 104 appearances for the Serie A club.
Last season he finished as the joint third leading goal scorer in the Italian league with 23 goals.
His club Napoli finished second in the league behind eventual champions Juventus.
