Manchester City in hunt for Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo
MANCHESTER CITY could step up their interest in Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo this summer.
The Citizens are in the midst of a major overhaul of their squad, and have already splurged over £50m on Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fernandinho and Sevilla winger Jesus Navas already.
With Carlos Tevez having left for Juventus and Mario Balotelli joining Ac Milan in January, Manuel Pellegrini is short of options up front.
And it seems that City are hovering around Cardozo, as he is set to leave the Estadio da Luz after reportedly falling out with Benfica coach Jorge Jesus.
"Benfica knows the situation and now the subject is in their hands," Cardozo's agent, Pedro Aldave, told Sky Sports.
"There has always been interest from Premier League but now this is real interest."
The 30-year-old netted an astonishing 26 goals in all competitions last season for the Portuguese giants, who reached the Europa League final.
