Glenn Hoddle: Tottenham star Gareth Bale should consider Manchester United or City
GARETH Bale has been urged by Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle to reject the overtures of Real Madrid this summer and remain in English football.
Hoddle - who played for Spurs between 1975 and 1987, and managed the club from 2001 to 2003 - believes Bale should stay in England and turn down a move to Spain.
Real Madrid are pushing to bring the 23-year-old to the Spanish capital this summer, but the former England boss wants Bale to consider moving to Manchester United or Manchester City instead - if he has to leave White Hart Lane.
"If he does move, I think he will settle easier at another club in England," Hoddle told a national newspaper.
"The only ones he can realistically join are Manchester United and Manchester City.
"He could get Champions League football there. But I want him to stay at Tottenham."
"He is still young enough to secure a move abroad later in life when he could cope better with it."
