England Under-20s let it slip against Iraq
ENGLAND blew a two goal lead and the chance of a first win at an Under-20 World Cup in 16 years last night when they drew with Iraq.
A last-minute goal from Ali Adnan capped a fine comeback from Iraq in Antalya, Turkey.
England seemed on course to register the country’s only success in the tournament since Michael Owen was on target against Mexico in Malaysia in 1997.
They took a 41st minute lead through Conor Coady’s header and Luke Williams dispatched Kane’s low cross seven minutes after the break.
But Iraq’s Ali Faez scored from the spot in the 75th minute after keeper Sam Johnstone brought down Mohannad Abdul- Raheem before Adnan struck with the last kick of the game.
