Andy Carroll gets the all-clear for £15.5m Liverpool to West Ham switch
ANDY CARROLL last night passed a medical with West Ham as Liverpool wrote off a £20million loss on the England international.
The striker underwent stringent checks and is now poised to confirm his £15.5m switch to Upton Park on a six-year deal worth about £100,000 a week.
“We managed to bring Andy’s medical forward and I am delighted to inform you he passed with flying colours,” tweeted West Ham chairman David Gold.
Carroll spent last season on loan with the Hammers, scoring seven goals from 24 appearances.
But he suffered a heel injury that could force him to miss the start of the new campaign.
That setback, coupled with previous injuries, prompted West Ham to insist on a thorough medical.
It brought relief on Merseyside, with Liverpool banking on offloading Carroll this summer.
He scored 11 goals in 57 matches for Liverpool following his British record £35m switch from Newcastle in 2011, but became surplus to requirements under Brendan Rodgers.
