Former Arsenal midfielder Denilson signs with Brazilian club Sao Paulo
FORMER Arsenal midfielder Denilson has moved to Sao Paulo, the club where he spent the last two seasons on loan, this evening
The 25-year-old was released by Arsenal earlier this month as they looked to offload fringe players and trim down their wage bill.
The former captain of the Brazilian under-17 national team signed a four and a half year contract until December 2017 with the club.
He had turned down offers from Gremio, Cruzeiro and Santos to join the club where he started his footballing career.
Denilson had joined the Gunners in 2006 and played almost 100 Barclays Premier League games for them.
He scored six goals for the club, and played a pivotal role partnering with Cesc Fabregas in the Arsenal midfield in the 2008/2009 campaign.
