Jose Mourinho to keep spending with £45m Chelsea bid for Edinson Cavani
JOSE MOURINHO looks set to continue his £100million rebuilding process at Chelsea with a £45m bid for Edinson Cavani.
The Blues yesterday confirmed they had agreed terms with Bayer Leverkusen for Andre Schurrle, the £18m German winger.
And Mourinho’s revolution will continue with a chase for Napoli striker Cavani, despite Spanish media quoting his mother, Berta Gomez, as saying: "Edi is talking to Real Madrid and Manchester City."
Real Madrid are reported to be in preliminary discussions with Cavani, but Mourinho is keen to mark his return to Stamford Bridge with a marquee signing and the Uruguayan fits his criteria.
While Chelsea would need to fend off interest from Madrid and Manchester to secure the 26-year-old's signature this summer, he has recently indicated a desire to work with the Portuguese in West London.
"The Special One? It would be a pleasure to be managed by someone like him," said Cavani.
"Chelsea? I don't know if they've made an offer for me but I know that working for a coach like Pellegrini or Mourinho would be a great pleasure.
"It would certainly be a great honour to join one of the illustrious teams that are looking at me because I dreamed about doing that as a child."
