Tottenham and Newcastle target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has Russia option
PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG could be set to deny interest from the Premier League this summer, with money-bags Anzhi Makhachkala hoping to tempt him to Russia.
Aubameyang - described as the 'African Neymar' in some quarters - has been watched by a number of English clubs over the past six months.
Tottenham have been heavily linked with the 23-year-old hitman, while Newcastle are also thought to have dispatched scouts to see him in action.
Arsenal, Chelsea and other European sides are thought to be keen on Aubameyang, who scored 19 goals in Ligue 1 for St Etienne last season.
However, free-spending Anzhi are looking to bring the Gabon international to the Russian Premier League for next season, and are set to make an offer of around €25 million euros (£21.2m) according to reports on the continent.
Aubameyang has publicly admitted a desire to play for Real Madrid, and while a move to the Bernabeu appears unlikely Anzhi's bid may blow Tottenham and Newcastle out of the water.
Only PSG's Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored more goals in the French top-flight last year (30), with the Parisian side also tipped as potential suitors for Aubameyang.
