Karim Benzema rules out Manchester United move and insists he's happy at Real Madrid
KARIM BENZEMA has insisted he is happy at Real Madrid and is not looking for a move away amid interest from Barclays Premier League champions Manchester United.
The 25-year-old had reportedly been lined up by Manchester United as a replacement for Wayne Rooney if the English striker left Old Trafford.
Sir Alex Ferguson had tried to sign the striker in 2009 from Lyon but lost out in the race for the Frenchman to the La Liga giants.
And it looks like Fergie's successor David Moyes will fail to lure Benzema to the Red Devils once again after he pledged his future to Madrid.
Speaking to Marca, Benzema said: "Of course I'm staying. I'm happy at Real Madrid and I'm not going to leave."
Benzema has endured a below par season, scoring fewer goals than usual and coming in for criticism for his performances.
However, he said he is willing to fight for his place in the team next season and that he is not worried about competition for positions.
Real are rumoured to be interested in Tottenham star Gareth Bale and Napoli goal machine Edinson Cavani.
