Chelsea and Tottenham eye up £12.75m-rated Wesley Sneijder
CHELSEA and Tottenham are set to battle for the £12.75 million transfer of Holland superstar Wesley Sneijder from Turkish giants Galatasary.
The 29-year-old, who moved to Turkey in the January transfer window, has since struggled for form and lost the Dutch captaincy to Robin van Persie.
The Turkish club have said Sneijder can move if the right offer comes in, which will alert Chelsea after Sneijder said he'd like to work with Jose Mourinho again.
Galatasaray president Unal Aysal said: "I have been following the rumours about Sneijder, but we have not received an offer for him.
"If an offer in the region of €15m (£12.75m) comes in, we might decide to sell him though."
Sneijder worked with Mourinho while the Portugese coach was in charge of Serie A giants Inter Milan.
Sneijder had said he has a 'great relationship' with Mourinho and they have kept in touch since Mourinho left the club for Real Madrid.
Sneijder said: "I have a great relationship with Jose Mourinho.
"We have kept in contact since our days at Inter Milan. Does Chelsea need a playmaker? I'm not sure. In football you can never be certain of what will happen next but I'm very happy in Turkey."
While Tottenham would be interested in bringing in a world class midfield playmaker to White Hart Lane, according to The Mirror.
Spurs have lacked such a player since the departures of Luka Modric and Rafael van der Vaart, and have held a long-term interest in Sneijder.
However, Holland boss Louis van Gaal said he would love to see Sneijder quit Galatasaray to move to Europa League champions Chelsea.
He said: "It would be much easier for me to keep an eye on his progress if he were to make the move to Chelsea.
"I could be at Chelsea within an hour from the Netherlands and Mourinho is a friend of me."
