Manchester City agree £34m deal for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fernandinho
MANCHESTER CITY are primed to make Fernandinho their latest signing after a £34m deal was agreed.
The Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder had not hidden his desire to join the Citizens, with the Ukrainian champions originally unwilling to budge on his £42.5m release clause in his contract.
However, the club dropped their high valuation of him and he was pictured leaving a hospital in Manchester after undertaking a medical.
With Manuel Pellegrini widely expected to be appointed City's new manager, this has provided the deposed Premier League champions with a timely fillip.
It comes after the Citizens agreed an initial transfer fee of £17m for Sevilla winger Jesus Navas, although that is expected to soar given add-ons.
The 28-year-old made a name for himself in the Champions League last season after scoring against Chelsea in the group stages.
