Arsenal on red alert as Gonzalo Higuain confirms Real Madrid departure
REAL MADRID striker Gonzalo Higuain has revealed he will leave Real Madrid this summer, hinting at a move to Juventus despite strong interest from Arsenal.
Higuain opened the scoring for Real during their 4-2 home win over Osasuna on Saturday, and after the match admitted it will be not just manager Jose Mourinho's last for the Spanish giants but his also.
Juventus are in pole position to land the 25-year-old this summer, with the Serie A champions heavily linked with a £20 million bid for the Argentine.
And while Higuain admitted Juventus are interested in him, he did leave the door open for Arsenal to make a late move to secure his services.
"I am leaving Real," said Higuain. "I have been here for seven years and I have taken my time to make this decision - it isn't a heat of the moment thing.
"I came here for 12 million euros (£10m) and they will sell me for more. I have achieved a lot here.
"I know Juventus want me but there is nothing concrete. I want to go somewhere where they prove they really want me."
Despite alternating with French forward Karim Benzema up front for Madrid this season, Higuain managed 18 goals in 41 appearances.
