David Moyes targeting Uruguayan Guillermo Valera as first Manchester United signing
MANCHESTER UNITED manager David Moyes could make Uruguayan right-back Guillermo Valera his first summer signing.
Valera, who plays for Penarol, is something of an unknown quantity, however has recently had a trial at Old Trafford.
Moyes is looking to mould the United team in his own style and has been linked with some household names.
Valera has enjoyed his trial with the Premier League champions, and said recently: "It was a surprise to get the chance to test with Manchester United. I'm glad and happy, and grateful to Penarol who allowed me to travel.
"I was treated so well and Cicharito [Javier Hernandez] helped me a lot. The work outs were short but very demanding."
It is thought that United have lodged a £1.2m bid for him, which was rejected but Penarol are willing to negotiate.
Penarol Vice-president Edgard Welker, said: "It's an important offer. It's complicated - it's not easy."
