Manuel Pellegrini talks of 'verbal agreement' with Manchester City
MANUEL PELLEGRINI has admitted he has a verbal agreement to become the new manager of Manchester City.
The Chilean was speaking to Andalusian television station Canal Sur yesterday about replacing Roberto Mancini and said: “I have a verbal agreement with them [Manchester City] and I hope it is carried out.”
Pellegrini has now officially left former club Malaga, and having been initially linked with the Etihad hot-seat in February speculation is rife that he is set to replace Mancini.
'The Engineer' as he is known in Spain, 59-year-old Pellegrini will be tasked with producing five trophies in five seasons by the City board.
But he is expected to be backed in the transfer market, with former Malaga playmaker Isco and Napoli striker Edinson Cavani among a number of potential targets.
"It is true that Manchester City has shown much interest in me to be their coach and I have had conversations with them," Pellegrini added.
"There should be no problem, but until things are signed I cannot say it is done."
