Outgoing interim Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez to become new Napoli coach
NAPOLI have announced Rafa Benitez will succeed Walter Mazzarri as their new coach.
Mazzarri revealed last week he is leaving the Serie A outfit in the summer, which has created a frenzy of rumours over who will take over.
Benitez, who has also been tentatively linked with PSG, was among a number of names including Roberto Mancini, Manuel Pellegrini and Jurgen Klopp to be in the frame for the vacancy.
The club's president Aurelio De Laurentiis went to meet Benitez in London for exploratory talks and confirmed he expects him to sign a two-year contract.
"I've given myself a gift for my 64th birthday," De Laurentiis told Sky Sport Italia.
"Benitez will be the next Napoli coach.
"I'll make it official in the next few days as Benitez needs to end things with Chelsea. He'll have a two-year contract, no longer.
"We need to get to know each other first, then we'll see."
Benitez will be taking over a side that finished runners-up to Juventus last season.
