Arsenal blocked in move for Montpellier midfielder Remy Cabella
ARSENAL appear to have reached a dead end in their pursuit of Montpellier midfielder Remy Cabella.
Cabella had been tipped to make a summer switch to Arsenal, following in the footsteps of former Montpellier team-mate Olivier Giroud.
However, Montpellier's deputy chairman Laurent Nicollin has poured cold water on suggestions that Cabella could be allowed to leave for pastures new, placing a stunning £85 million valuation on the player.
"He is non-transferable," Nicollin told French-speaking station Radio Monte Carlo.
"We try to anticipate and plan things, even in football, but it's complicated.
"The desire of the club is to keep Remy - he was told and knows this. If a club arrives and offers €100 million (£85m), it will be discussed though."
Nicollin is the son of club chairman Louis, who is a notoriously difficult negotiator. However, Arsenal have precedent in dealing with Montpellier having secured 17-goal Giroud for a fee of £12 million.
