Real Madrid to rival Manchester City for £30m Malaga playmaker Isco
MANCHESTER CITY'S proposed move for talented Spanish midfielder Isco looks in doubt after Malaga revealed Real Madrid were interested.
With Malaga manager Manuel Pellegrini set to be appointed at Manchester City in the coming days, speculation is rife that he will bring playmaker Isco with him from Spain.
Isco along with Napoli striker Edinson Cavani were mooted as potential signings for Pellegrini upon his arrival at the Etihad, with reports suggesting a combined £50 million transfer fee would be enough to secure the duo.
However, the chances of Malaga's 21-year-old academy graduate lining up in sky blue next season have been dealt a blow with the news that Real Madrid also want to sign him.
"They are interested in him, but nothing is official yet," Malaga executive Francisco Martin Aguilar said of Real Madrid's interest in Isco.
"It fills us with pride that a lad that has come through at Málaga to become the player he has. If he goes it will be to a big club and it will be to the benefit of the coffers at the club."
Aguilar went on to confirm that any club wanting to sign Isco will need to activate the £30m release clause in his contract.
