Gus Poyet could ditch Brighton to charge at Fulham or Everton
BRIGHTON boss Gus Poyet could be set for a sensational return to the Premier League as manager of Fulham or Everton.
The ex-Chelsea midfielder has been suspended by the Seagulls for alleged breaches of his contract after Brighton fell to a play-off defeat to Crystal Palace.
A club statement read: "Brighton & Hove Albion has confirmed that it has suspended its manager, assistant manager, and its first-team coach from their duties. The club will now follow its internal procedures with regard to this matter and will make no further comment at this time."
But Poyet may have managed his last game for the club.
Bookmakers have slashed the odds on the Uruguyan becoming the next Fulham manager and he is now ODDS-ON at 2/5 to take over from Martin Jol.
And bookies also fear Poyet, who has expressed his desire to one day manage Chelsea, could be on Everton's radar.
David Moyes was named as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor last week and Poyet has been backed into the 3/1 favourite to replace him at Goodison Park.
Poyet guided Brighton to a fourth-place finish in the Championship and helped draw the highest average crowds in the division to the Amex Stadium.
